A mild fine spring morning met the group ready to get stuck into the mornings tasks. Kevin was welcomed as a potential new member of the team before tools were loaded into a wheelbarrow and 8 volunteers headed out towards the play area to a patch of brambles and dogwood to be cleared. Many hands making light work as they say, so quite an area was cleared. Bob, Roy and Sue were tasked to conduct a stocktake of items in the tool store before heading out for some litter picking.
A final task of scraping the sides of a ditch to remove moss, to provide better access for solitary bees, was completed before heading to the Holly Blue for a well earned warm beverage..

Ditch Clearing: The intention is that exposing the banks, by cutting back the brambles and clearing the moss, will result in making them more accessible for insects. The ultimate goal being that this will encourage solo bees to nest in the cleared banks and that butterflies and other insects will also be encouraged to flourish.
