We met Steve and Marion at the entrance to the meadow eager to get stuck into the tasks for the morning.
Blackthorn Popping
Steve led a team of Ildi, Linda, Amanda and Colin for some Blackthorn popping and quite an area was cleared.

Dead Hedge Building
Marion was assisted by Mary and Andy in continuing a dead hedge that had been started some time ago.

A dead hedge is a sustainable, rustic barrier constructed from piled woody prunings, branches, and hedge cuttings, designed to enhance biodiversity by providing essential habitat for insects, birds, and small mammals. They function as windbreaks, boundary markers, and privacy screens, while recycling waste, improving soil health, and creating effective, eco-friendly, and cost-effective woodland partitions.
… and Finally
After a short refuelling break, with delicious cakes made by Ildi and hot drinks provided by Steve, both teams attended to the dead hedge to give it a final spruce for the day.
