The volunteer team met as usual on the second Tuesday of the month outside the tool store up by the café, on a wet and windy morning, ready for action!
It had previously been agreed that we would remain flexible regarding tasks to be carried out at this time of year due to the weather, so it was decided to spend the morning continuing with the removal of the plastic tree guards, which would at least afford us some shelter from both the wind and the rain.
Although the work was challenging (the very nature of the work involves a lot of bending to both cut the guards free and to dodge the branches etc) by the time we had finished a good area had been cleared.
By the time we retired to the Holly Blue for a hot drink and a warm up we estimated that 250/300 guards had been removed and bagged up ready for collection by the council.
A good morning’s work by one and all.
