    Whilst working together as a group we also learn more about the plants and animals in our local park. This photo was taken on one of the impromptu litter picks in the park. The lovely butterfly was identified as a Marbled White by another group member.

    Ildi represented the group at this year’s Hatch Warren Fair. It was a good team effort with Natural Basingstoke and Hatch Warren Nature Group. The weather stayed dry apart from the last 30 mins. We also had some interest with several people scanning the QR code to access our contact details.

    Beggarwood Park is also home to a very rare bird – a leucistic Mapgie with brown and white feathers instead of the usual black and white. Leucism is an abnormal condition of reduced pigmentation in the feathering. Birds with this condition are often referred to as ghost birds.
