Working Party, June 2026

With the early morning rain, the day didn’t look too promising, but the hardy volunteers were not to be deterred and fortunately the rain held off. Numbers were down due to holidays and family & work commitments, but increased by Victoria and Chris joining us for the first time. Victoria finding us via a Google search for volunteering in Basingstoke and Chris after reading one of our posters on an entrance to the park.

Tidying Around the Café Area

The first task was to trim the hedge in the car park and to tidy the patio area at the cafe. After sprucing the patio, Linda headed out to cut back nettles at a park bench while the rest of the team continued clipping the hedge.

Dogwood Popping and Bramble Clearing

After that, Ildi, Victoria, Chris and Andy headed out towards the playground to continue with the ongoing task of dogwood popping. At the same time Linda and Roy cut back brambles and some vegetation clearance at a walkway and bench.

…and Finally

Once all tools were safely returned to the store, the team took a stroll to The Holly Blue for a well earned beverage.
